Maritime Day 2011

Saturday August 6th, 8AM – 6PM
In honor of Galilee Harbor’s 30th Anniversary this cooperative/ liveaboard/affordable housing community invites everyone to revel in the spirit of all that is maritime. Marine Flea Market buying, Traditional Boat-building Demos, Boat Rides and Floating Home Tours are just some of the things to do at Galilee Harbor.

Galilee Harbor, a community of artists and maritime workers, formed in 1980 continues to thrive as it celebrates its community. This event sponsored in part by the Richardson’s Bay Maritime Association & Lagunitas Brewing Company showcases Art created by Galilee Residents & Friends. The Arques School of Traditional Boatbuilding will present a demonstration. Robert Darr, Arques’ program director and head instructor will utilize traditional tools to show visitors how wooden boats are actually built. Other Sausalito waterfront entities such as Northbay Boatworks and SF Bay Whalewatching will also attend.

Bring the whole family to listen to live music courtesy of resident musicians, including The Fiver Brown. Try your luck and purchase some Maritime Day raffle tickets to win a traditional wooden boat built by local shipwrights from Northbay Boatworks. Lunch on fish and chips. Purchase that long sought after item from one of our Marine Flea Market vendors. Walk the docks and tour a number of floating homes or just sit by the bay and catch sight of our resident great blue heron and the many egrets off the Mono Street marsh.

Galilee Harbor Community Association is a non-profit, cooperative, maritime neighborhood dedicated to continuing the maritime arts and skills while providing affordable floating housing on the Sausalito waterfront.
